Building More Than Beds: Hendy Street at Keller Williams RED Day

WRITTEN BY INTERN ANNAGRACE MANSFIELD

Keller Williams RED Day was my very first shoot with Hendy Street, and I couldn't have drawn up a better introduction to what this team is all about.

What is RED Day?

Every second Thursday of May, Keller Williams agents, leaders, and associates across the globe step away from their daily business and pour that energy into their communities instead. RED stands for Renew, Energize, and Donate, and the day delivers on all three. Founded in 2009, RED Day has seen KW associates build homes, hand out food, raise money for local charities, and show up in a big way for the people around them.

This year, the Wilmington chapter brought that mission to Independence Mall, setting up a full production line of stations where volunteers turned raw lumber into bed frames for kids in need.

The Cause: No Kid Sleeps on the Floor

The frames built that day were headed straight to the Wilmington chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit on a mission to make sure no child in our community sleeps on the floor. The Wilmington chapter serves New Hanover and Brunswick counties, building and delivering beds to kids who don't have one. Every frame that came off that line meant one more child with a safe, comfortable place to sleep at night.

On the Ground with Hendy Street

The energy on set matched the energy of the event: fast, focused, and full of heart. I kicked off the day helping unload gear and getting everything ready to roll. From there, I grabbed extra b-roll on the GoPro, moving through the crowd to catch those in-the-middle-of-it-all moments that make this kind of content come alive.

Once we moved into interviews, I helped get everything set and took over boom operating while the KW volunteers shared what the day meant to them. Everybody was working hard, fired up, and genuinely glad to be there. That kind of environment makes the job easy and the footage even better.

Why Shoots Like This Matter

At Hendy Street, we believe the best stories are the ones rooted in real people doing real things for real reasons. RED Day was exactly that: a room full of folks working hard, giving back, and building something that would outlast the day itself.

We're proud we got to be there to capture it.
